It's finally Friday!! I am so ready to begin my weekend but wish I didn't have a long to-do list of homework to do.
In case you missed any of my posts from earlier this week...
Funny Story & Bowling Night
We shouldn't be Facebook friends if...
Wednesday we are not friends
What I want to write about today started on Wednesday morning. As I mentioned in my Wednesday post I have a long day and as a result need to take a lot of things with me to work/school. It was as I was scrambling that morning to put together my bag of clothes and backpack that I realized I was feeling really frazzled, disorganized, and just not prepared - every day not just that morning.
The main reason I think I am feeling this way is my room is a mess. I've been saying for weeks now that I would clean it and get it in good shape so I could use it as more than just a place to sleep - *cough*homework*cough*. I am definitely going to at least take a step in the right direction this weekend and begin the process of cleaning my room. Wish me luck with this one!
Another reason for feeling unprepared was the fact that while I made a checklist of things I needed to pack for the day I would have been better off just packing everything the night before. Due to trying to get enough sleep every night I've changed the time my alarm goes off every morning - setting it later so if I get up when it goes off I have enough time to get ready but not so much time that I think I can use the snooze button a lot - and because of that when I use the snooze button a few times - but still better than I used to be about it - I put myself in a time crunch to get ready and leave in time to be to work on time. Because of this time crunch I put myself in I'm racing around after getting ready for work to find everything that's on that checklist of mine. As I was driving to work it dawned on me that if I would just pack everything I need for the next day the night before even if I was in a time crunch I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting anything. I will be giving this a try next week.
I have a plan so now it is time to put that plan into action!
Step #1 - Clean room
Step #2 - Organize room
Step #3 - Pack things for the day the night before
Step #4 - Get to bed between 10 and 10:30!!
Step #5 - Get out of bed when alarm goes off - DO NOT USE THE SNOOZE BUTTON!!
Easy enough right? Now I just need to follow through - my downfall in achieving things I want to in life.
Questions for you...
Do you prepare things the night before so you can just grab it and go?
Do you keep your bedroom/apartment (depending on your living situation) clean all the time or do you let it go sometimes and then do a big clean to restore order?

Wednesday we are not friends
Before I get into my pile of homework I brought to school with me today I wanted to give my readers yet another post! I seem to be on a roll with keeping up on the blog so why stop now right?!
Anyways... This past Friday I posted about getting enough sleep and my poor habits that lead to me feeling less than 100% - you can read it here. Thanks to all of your lovely comments about how you figured out when was the best time for you to hit the hay and how many hours of sleep you need I decided I would try my hand at getting to bed by 10:00pm to wake up at 5:45-6:00am.
Sunday night I managed to get myself to bed by 10:30pm - not bad, still 7.5 hours of sleep. Monday night was horrible, I didn't go to bed until after 12am. Why? Because I decided since I was sitting around at home all day Tuesday I didn't really need to worry about getting to bed at a decent time. I still got 8 hours of sleep but I still felt pretty tired throughout the day. One of those weird things where even though I got "enough sleep" it was at the wrong time of night I guess. And now last night I got to bed at 10:30pm - not the time I was shooting for but again not bad.
Thanks to the lovely Caitlin @ Going 26.2 I know that it takes 2 week to form a new sleep habit so I need to be patient to see if this 10-10:30pm bed time is working out for me or not.
Even though I'm still feeling tired in the morning and throughout the day I am noticing that I am getting out of bed in a more timely manner than I was before so that's improvement!
Besides talking about my sleep habits I also just wanted to throw it out there that I'm really starting to dislike Wednesdays.
As mentioned last week in my Mission Accomplished! post I have gym Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - Monday being in the classroom and Wednesday and Friday being activity days. Because I also have class from 5:30-8pm on Wednesdays I have to workout and then stay at school until class is over that night.
It sucks!
I do my best to freshen myself up by using dry shampoo, body spray, facial cleansing wipes (which I also use on my body), and of course a change of clothes but it still doesn't make me feel the greatest for staying in public.
Yes, there is a locker room but I'll be honest, I've never been in it and I'm not comfortable taking a shower - if there is one - at school.
It's times like these that I wished I lived in town! I would then be able to go home after gym to shower, eat, and do homework until it was time for class at 5:30. Could this also be a bad thing as I would then be distracted by the TV and doing other things? Definitely, but look at me now - I'm blogging instead of working on homework!
There! I feel as though I've told you all about the important things going on in my head right now. Oh wait! There is more but I'll save that for another post because this one has already gone a little long. And let's face it, I need to get down tobusiness homework.
Do you have a least favorite day of the week with your current schedule?

Funny Story & Bowling Night
Good morning! I hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend so far and if you're a football fan your team wins today - unless you're Hollie since we know the Pack has to win today!
I'm going to start you off with a funny puppy story from this past week. Thursday night I was ready to watch some of the shows my DVR had been recording for me - you can read more about that and the consequence I paid for doing that here. Bo followed me downstairs but eventually went back upstairs. I wasn't worried because I knew my mom was still watching TV in the living room upstairs.
Well, Bo is stealth like when he wants to be. Whether he did this intentionally or not Thursday night I guess we'll never know. Anyways, he managed to sneak past my mom and go down the hall to my parent's bedroom. My dad brought Bo up on the bed where he stayed the entire night.
When my mom was ready to go to bed she found Bo in her spot and decided since he didn't move she would sleep on the couch. Needless to say my mom was not amused but my dad and I found it quite funny.
OK, so Bo isn't that little any more but it's the only sleeping picture I have of him.
Moving on...
My department at work planned a group outing for Saturday night to go bowling. Not everyone came as some had other plans but the group of us that did go had fun. Thanks to my boss we bowled for 2 hours, had a pizza, and 2 pitchers of beer for free. I discovered that I bowl better the more I drink. i started off well with a 130 the first game, a 128 the second game, and the third game I really kicked butt with a 175ish. I honestly can't remember the exact score of that last game.
When we were done bowling three of us made our way to the bar to continue the fun. Luckily my parents were going into town to drop some fish off for my grandma so I told them that they could come pick me up so I wouldn't have to drive home.
It was a fun night and I'm glad that for the most part our department gets along well enough so we can go out these kinds of outings.
We decided we have to go out again soon because the Brewers were playing and for every home-run they got we got a card and if you collect 4 of them you get a free drink when you buy one. We pooled our cards together and ended the night with 8.
Now today I need to work hard to focus so I can be productive and cross some things off my to-do list for school.
GO PACK GO!

Getting enough sleep??
Good Friday morning! I am a few hours away from the start of my weekend and I am pumped. I would actually be more pumped if I wasn't feeling so tired right now.
Things just fell into place for this blog post to be about sleep today.
We'll start at the beginning though with last night. After getting home from class and watching some TV with my mom (Castle marathon to catch you up before the new season starts) I watched three of my DVR'd shows before going to bed which happened after 11pm. It's fall so all of my favorite shows are starting back up and there are still those shows that are in the middle to end of their season already that I'm still trying to keep up on. I love having a DVR so I can record the shows I would be missing because I'm in class or because I'm watching a show on another channel. But there is a downside to a DVR...it can only hold so many shows at a time! So, if you don't watch what you record pretty soon you're running out of room to record new shows.
With my night classes I don't get home until 8:30ish twice a week so that is definitely cutting into my TV watching time, forcing me to rely on my DVR to record more shows than ever. Not necessarily a bad thing because then I can watch them when it's convient for me. On the flip side though I usually spend time that could be devoted to homework by catching up on the week's shows. Being more disciplined about doing homework before watching TV is something I'll be working on this semester.
Maybe I'll reward myself with being able to watch one TV show for completeing the week's work for one class when I am home?
Anyways, moving on...
Because I stayed up past 11pm watching TV I got about 6 hours of sleep which doesn't seem to be enough, or isn't at the right time of night, considering when the alarm went off at 5:30am I hit snooze like it was my job for an hour until finally getting up at 6:30am. Ever notice that getting say 8 hours of sleep, say from 10pm to 6am feels totally different in the morning than say getting 8 hours of sleep by going to bed at 1am and getting up at 8am?
By getting up at 6:30 this morning I only had a half hour to get myself ready and on the road to make it to work by 7:30. A half hour is not enough time for me to get ready without feeling rushed, and potentially forgetting to take something crucial to my day with me. If I would wake up at 5:30am I would have plenty of time to get ready, and even have some chill time to check email, Facebook, Twitter, or whatever I feel like doing with that time. But in order to wake up at 5:30am and not feel like complete crap because I am soooo tired I need to start getting the right amount of sleep.
This brings me to the question of the day. How do you know what the right amount of sleep is for you? I can't remember a time in my life where I felt like I was waking up refreshed from getting the right amount of sleep, or if I do I don't recall how many hours of sleep that actually was.
Alexis over at Daily Ramblings was just talking about this yesterday. For her 7.5-8 hours of sleep per night isn't enough. As she put it her body needs a solid coma to functiont he next day. Read her entire post here.
Getting the right amount of sleep is an essential part of leading a healthy life because let's face it, when we run ourselves down and don't get enough sleep we're more likely to get sick, be irritable, and a whole bunch of other bad junk.
So, I'm asking for your help readers...answer me these questions.
How did you find out what the right amount of sleep was for you?
What are your tips to making sure you can get that right amount most of the time? It's not a perfect world so I realize that there will be times that getting the right amount isn't in the cards.
What's your typical bedtime, or that range you usually hit the hay during, and what time is your usual wake up call?

Mission Accomplished!
Wow it's about a week and a half since my last post! Since that post I've started the fall semester at school so I am sure you fellow college students can understand how that could have gotten in the way of blogging.
This semester I am taking a total of 15 credits. My schedule looks like this...
Mondays - Work 7:30-11:30, Fitness for Life 12-12:50
Tuesdays - No work and no class = homework day at home or day to make appointments
Wednesdays - Work 7:30-11:30, Fitness for Life 12-12:50, Personnel/Human Resource Management 5:30-8:00
Thursdays - Work 8-4:30, Principles of Finance 5:30-8:00
Fridays - Work 7:30-11:30, Fitness for Life 12-12:50
Then half way through the semester I will replace Principles of Finance with Ethics in Business. Because they are only 8 week courses the material is covered very quickly and you have tests very quickly, sometimes back to back weeks.
Despite having a full course load and lots of work for each of those classes, except for Fitness for Life, I can make time to blog. I will be working on that from now on because I find it useful to blog about what's going on my life because this wonderful blogging community always offers their advice and support. I can't thank you enough for the past advice and support you've left in the comments of my previous posts.
Anyways, moving on to what the title of this post is all about. Fitness for Life is a 2 credit gym class I am taking this semester and as an evaluation of where we are at currently we had to run a timed 1.3 miles (approximately) through the park. The professor told everyone to shoot for less than 20 minutes. I pulled it off in 19:07! I was really happy with this time because honestly I really haven't worked out since last October. You can read more about my run over at Daily Mile (see the widget to the left?).
Weather permitting we will be running that same route again at the end of the semester to see how we have progressed in our fitness level. Since it will be December in Wisconsin I am not counting on having to run it again but we'll see.
The rest of the semester every Wednesday and Friday we are required to do at least 20 minutes of cardio in some form. We can do more than 20 minutes if we want but if we only do 20 minutes we need to fill the rest of the class time with something else fitness related, like strength training. I am going to take this opportunity to get on the strength training bandwagon because I know it's important and I've been slacking in this area fora while my entire life.
Now that I've written this I suppose I should hit the books. Hopefully I don't get distracted by the internet!

What the H-E-double hockey sticks am I doing??
Just so you know this post is probably not going to be very positive so if you don't want to read a negative Nelly post skip this one. And I apologize that it seems like I probably do a lot of negative posts but honestly, that's how I feel and this blog is for me to get those negative feelings out there instead of holding them in.
Lately I am wondering what the h-e double hockey sticks I am doing with my life. More specifically my health and school.
Thursday I biked with my friend Sami. I planned to take Friday off and bike again alone or with my dad Saturday or Sunday. I did neither.
Thursday afternoon through Sunday I basically was a couch potato and accomplished nothing other than reading blogs and watching TV. I had homework that needed to get done like yesterday.
I now have a lot on my plate for this afternoon/evening after I get home from work. I am going to feel overwhelmed and will probably resist just sitting down and getting it all done.
And I'm wondering why...
I mean seriously, why would I choose to not use the time available to work on homework so I can avoid feeling overwhelmed?
Why would I choose to not use the time available to bike as planned? Am I really that lazy?
School is approaching the end (thank God!) but I still have so much to do and I just don't know what has turned me into the student who is fine with turning assignments in late, or not doing them at all. I never was this way, even in high school when I started my procrastination.
I keep talking about how I want to lose weight, and how after my most recent appointment with my doctor in April I need to lose weight for medical reasons but yet I'm still not putting the effort in on my own time.
I can't rely on a work out buddy. I need to do this on my own most of the time.
I've blogged about my plans and struggles to give up Mountain Dew, or really soda in general, but I have yet to really stick to the plan and follow through. I keep saying it's because it is available in my house. But we all know that's just an excuse. Yes, it would be easier to kick the habit if it wasn't in the house but it is my choice. I can just say no if I really want to. Same with at work and at school. Is it available for me to buy from a vending machine? Yes. Do I have to buy one? NO!
Why is it so hard for me to just say no to soda??
I just feel extremely frustrated with myself lately. I don't understand what I need to feel like in order for it to set in that I'm doing this to myself and I can change my ways to not feel frustrated and every other negative feeling.
I hope I can turn things around before I hit "rock bottom" and just feel so terrible that I have to make the necessary changes.
If you stuck around this long, thank you. I appreciate the time it took you to read this and leave a comment.
Goal: Be more positive. Find something good I've done each day. Make more good things happen each day. Be the person I want to be, not the person I make myself be.

Mr. Potato Head & The Creepy "New White Pages"
This is going to be short and sweet because I have a ton of work I need to get done for school. I won't bore you with all the boring details but lets just say I have 3 exams and a speech this week. Boo college :(
Alexis and I have never met but we have so much fun texting each other. Tuesday night was no exception. We were both studying and took a little break "together". Alexis sent me a picture message of her DIY Chia Pet, or Mr. Potato Head, which she said she had just given a hair cut. We ended up giving the Mr. Potato Head a makeover! Check it out! Needless to say this girl is awesome and I am so glad the blogging world gave me the opportunity to "meet" her!
On my day off from work and school, Tuesday, when I should have been working on homework I was checking out Life of bLyss, a blog I found that I really really like. As I was looking through some of her older posts I came across this one in particular that I wanted to share with my blog readers. The Creepy "New White Pages" is a post I'm really glad I found! Please, please go check it out. Alyssa, Life of bLyss writer, includes directions for how to delete any of your listings. I deleted at least 6 that were accurate for me, my mom, and my dad. It seriously creeped me out how much information was out there!
Well I'm off to go work on all my homework. I may or may not survive this so if you don't hear from me send someone to look for me ;)

The Results Are In
Good morning!
Once again I am sorry for the week delay in my next post. Here's a little catch up with what's been going on in my life.
Wednesday I worked, nothing spectacular. Watched Survivor Redemption Island with the family and probably thought about working on homework but never got around to it.
Thursday I had my first Managing Global Organizations class from 11-1:30. I think I will like the professor but it sounds like this class will be a lot of work :( Prior to going to class I was trying to read all of chapter 1, that didn't go so well. After I got home I can't remember what I did so obviously it was nothing productive, whoops!
Friday I worked from 8-2 and planned on coming home and getting my homework done that was due that night. If you're thinking "Yeah right she didn't get it done" you are absolutely correct. I've mentioned in a previous blog that I'm a NASCAR fan so when my dad had practice on I was getting hooked into watching that instead of working on my homework. My mom had won a basket at church (it was a silent auction) that had a $25 gift certificate to Homestead Inn (a bar we go to occasionally for Friday night fish). At work she had already mentioned wanting to go there which is part of the reason why I was planning to get the Friday night homework done right when I got home. But anyways, we went out to dinner and ended up staying out until 11.
Saturday morning I wake up at 8 and am thinking to myself gotta bust out this homework you didn't do last night. Of course plans changed. I ended up going to town with my parents for the morning before meeting up with Jackie and her two children Lane (7) and Lauren (3) to go see the movie Hop. We had seen them at Homestead the night before and when Jackie mentioned she had no plans for the weekend I asked if she would want to take the kids to the movie with me, she said yes obviously. It was a cute movie and I thought it was good. I was a bit frustrated though, Jackie mentioned that she'd pay for my ticket and we'll figure out something for food when we get in there. I'm thinking OK that's fine. But when we get in the theater she's just like "I'm going to get food" so I give her $15, which is all I had on me in cash. I didn't expect her to use it all! She comes back and had gotten the big bucket of popcorn and the two big sodas and didn't give me any change! Lane ate 3/4 of the pop corn and the one soda was for the kids to share, the other was mine because of the caffeine. I would have rather paid for my $7 movie ticket than $15 for the food. I know she had to pay a lot more for tickets because she had herself and two kids (which are $6.50, 50 cents cheaper?!) but she didn't ask if it was OK if she just used my money to pay for the food. I guess that's what irritates me the most is that she didn't communicate what her plan really was for the food situation.
Finally when I got home from the movie I got my homework done that was due Friday. After that all of my productivity went down the tubes. If I recall correctly I spent the rest of my weekend with my nose stuffed in a book. I finished Riding Lessons towards the end of the week, started and finished Flying Changes probably Thursday/Friday-Saturday, and then started The Horse Whisperer Sunday. I'll see what I can do about writing up some reviews. I forgot to stop at the library yesterday to pick up Water for Elephants so I will definitely be doing that after work tomorrow!
And now onto yesterday! I worked 7:30-2:30 so I could arrive at my doctor appointment on time. At the end of the visit my doctor talks to me about my cholesterol, which I had blood drawn for last week (mentioned in So much to say, so little time). It's a bit high, 236 when it should be 200 or less. But on the bright side my good cholesterol is good at 66 (I can't remember what it's supposed to be over). And then again on the downside there is something that is a bit higher than it should be, but because I have 0-1 risk factors it's OK where it is. I'm sorry I don't have a better explanation for you all, this is just what I remember. Anyways, she wants to check it again in a year. Oh! And she brought up my weight, said it had gone up since last time. I was like "Yeah and your scale sucks because just last week I was 187 and now I'm 195!" We decided it was the shoes and clothes because when I weigh myself at home I only wear shorts and a t-shirt, nothing heavy. But still she wants to see my weight go down, and the dieting and exercising would help the cholesterol go down. Guess I'm now under a bit of pressure to really see some results in a year with my weight loss. Wish me luck!
Now it is time to buckle down on my homework. I am not turning the TV on today so it cannot be a distraction. I have so much to do so if I can make today really productive I will have a weight lifted off of my shoulders.
Questions...
When you're unmotivated to do something you have to do, like homework, do you set up a reward for yourself to help motivate you?
I'm kind of thinking being able to watch TV with my family in the evening might be a good reward for me since that's what I like to use to distract myself from homework.
How do you deal with what feels like an overwhelming work load?
If I made a list of everything I need to get done this week it would be super long, and just seems like I can't get it done unless I ONLY work on homework whenever I'm not in class or at work.
Looking forward to reading your answers about these questions!

So much to say, so little time
Hey there bloggers...I started this post on Monday after work but saved it as a draft without publishing it because I had homework I needed to get done, and I had planned this whole productive afternoon and evening out which didn't include blogging until after I was done with my to-do list. Unfortunately, I never got around to finishing the post. And then yesterday was not the day I thought it would be either but more on that in a bit.
Sunday I had planned on working on my assignments for history of rock and roll that are due next week. But because of the fact that those assignments are due next week, meaning I was (or would be) working ahead, I gave myself an excuse to not put in as much effort as I should have. I got nothing done yesterday :( I read one section of the assigned reading and then just kind of messed around online and watched TV. So in a nut shell, nothing got done.
My plan for Monday afternoon to make up for Sunday's lack of productivity was to do the following before dinner.
While I didn't carry out my plan as well as I had been thinking I would I did pretty well.
Yesterday (Tuesday) I had no work and no class to attend so I was thinking it would be a great day to be super productive for my online classes. I should have never turned on the movie channels yesterday...all my productivity went down the tube then. I watched The Bounty Hunter with Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston, Dear John mmm Channing Tatum!!, The Ugle Truth (love love love Gerard and Katherine Heigle (sp??)), and I rounded out the day with Rock Star which had Jennifer Aniston in it. I had never heard of this movie until I found it on CMT yesterday. It was from 2001. Not a bad movie.
I did all of this movie watching after I had gone in to have my blood drawn for labs early in the morning. On Monday (the 4th) I am seeing my doctor for my yearly visit and she decided last year that I should have labs done up, I think to just get a baseline of my cholesterol but I'm not really sure. I am a bit nervous to find out what the labs say. I am really hoping that my weight gain and lack of weight loss has not affected my health.
I've finally created a new page on my blog. I decided to make it My Journey page of my weight loss. I am going to do my best to take pictures on a regular basis and post them along with posting my weigh ins on this page. I have never been one for measuring but if I do end up taking measurements I will also post them there. Basically anything that can serve as a means to track my weight loss will be on this page. I took my first pictures Monday and posted them there. You can check it out here. I also weighed myself on my Wii Fit yesterday before eating breakfast so that is also posted there.
I was browsing through Hollie's blog roll Sunday and chose to check out A Taste of Confidence. I found a book review of Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and found myself really interested in the book so I requested it from the public library. It also helps that a movie based on the book is coming out with Robert Pattison and Reese Witherspoon ;) It was when I was on the public library's website that I discovered I own a book by the same author. I have already read Riding Lesson but it was a while ago so I started re-reading it. It's an awesome book. I had always been on the look-out for the sequel whenever I saw books at the store but I never found it. I decided to request it from the library as well along with The Horse Whisperer that was mentioned on the back of Riding Lesson. The Horse Whisperer is already ready for me to pick up so after work today I'll be stopping at the library. Unfortunately, Water for Elephants is a popular book right now and I am number four on the request list so I don't think I'll be getting that book as quickly.
Besides the books I am getting from the library I just received the next 3 books in the Pretty Little Liars series on Monday. I picked up the first 3 from Barnes and Noble when I took Duke in for a grooming and had 3 hours to fill. I started watching the TV series based on the books last summer. I DVR'd the whole season the day of the summer finale (they re-aired all the episodes that day). And then this spring I have been watching the new episode every week. Sadly the spring finale was last week so now I have to wait until summer for more episodes. I love the show but from what I've read of the books so far it's pretty different. I like them both equally though despite the differences between the two.
I apologize for this really long post. I guess I had a lot to say, and I'm not even out of things to say yet! But I'm going to call this the end for today before I put you all to sleep ;)
I hope you have had a marvelous Monday, a terrific Tuesday, and a wonderful Wednesday so far this week.
Questions...
When books are made into TV series or movies do you love 'em or hate 'em compared to the book?
Twilight comes to mind for me...I LOVE the books more than I love the movies buuut I LOVE the movies too. I've read the books multiple times and watched the movies multiple times :)
Is there a book you highly recommend everyone to read??
Until next time...
- Speech - No speech for this unit but there was an activity needed to be done by Monday. The plan was to have this completed before my parents came home and we ate dinner.
- Laundry - Put laundry in while working on speech assignment.
- Walk the dog (with parents?) - After dinner take a walk with my dog Duke and possibly my parents if they chose to come with me.
- Watch Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) with Alexis - This one is pretty self-explanatory :)
While I didn't carry out my plan as well as I had been thinking I would I did pretty well.
- Speech - Started reading articles to do the opening activity but did not finish the assignment before dinner. Because of the walk and DWTS I didn't finish the assignment until around 10pm. By this time there was still hardly any posts by other students so I decided I would do the response the next day.
- Laundry - Success! I didn't get all of my laundry done but I did do some.
- Walk with Duke - Another success! After dinner both of my parents and I headed out on a walk. I walk faster than my mom so she told me to go ahead, she would walk with my dad. I had Duke so I wasn't walking alone, even though I had no one to talk to ;) Duke and I went 1.89 miles in 31 minutes, shaving off 2 minutes from the week before when we did the same walk. Wanting to get home in time for DWTS was motivating obviously ;)
- Watch DWTS w/Alexis - Success again! I love watching DWTS and it was even better "watching" it with Alexis. She is just too funny sometimes, but I love it. I'm rooting for Chelsea (the Disney star) and Kirstie Alley this season. I've voted both weeks for them and it has paid off because neither of them were eliminated last night. Oh by the way, Maks is HOT! I would definitely dance my butt off for him ;)

Blah Blah Blah~Ke$ha (Thanks iPod on Shuffle for my blog title)
Good evening bloggers...it's been a bit longer than I had hoped since my last post (so much for the 5 days/week :( ) I honestly just haven't had anything that I really wanted to write about...and I really still don't. What do you do if you have nothing "worth" writing about; post a blog just because or take a few days off?
Thursday I did go to Best Buy and get my new laptop. As soon as I got home I was of course taking it out of the box and getting it all set up. Everything was working just fine and dandy for me until this morning when I turned it on for the first time. It had just started up and installed some updates when it blue screened on me. I was shocked and seriously upset. Alexis helped to calm me by letting me know that it could just not have recognized the start-up (which sometimes happens) and that as long as it didn't happen again soon it should be alright. I seriously don't know what I would do without my tech-savy friends sometimes. I'm not horrible when it comes to computers but there are just some things I need someone smarter than me. For instance moving my music library from the iTunes on my old laptop to the iTunes on my new laptop...Putting the music files on my flash drive should work right?? But then my next question is, how to I get the music into iTunes?? Sorry if that's a totally dumb question and has a super easy answer to it.
Friday my dad and I went fishing by dams where the water is open. Because of the snow storm we had on Tuesday there was A LOT of snow to walk through to get from the roads to the water. I guess plowing those areas out isn't something they're concerned with. It was a good work out though...I'm talking knee-deep snow. Unfortunately no fish were caught :( I did take pictures of the geese at one of the fishing spots but haven't uploaded them onto my computer yet so I can't post them to my blog. Which is another thing I have to move from my old computer to my new one, pictures. And I need to figure out how to install the camera program on my new laptop.
My dad and I ate lunch at Freddy's Pub & Grill; both of us having chimis (shredded beef for my dad and shredded chicken for me). It was soooo good! I'm sure it helped that I had forgotten to eat breakfast because I woke up late to be ready to go fishing. Dinner was a home-made fish fry with the fish we had in the freezer from prior, more successful, fishing trips during the winter. Usually we have home-made french fries with our fish fry but we didn't have enough potatoes to make french fries so we used frozen waffle fries. I don't know what it is about waffle fries but I really really love them. Strange that I could like different styles of fries more than others even though they're all made out of the same thing, potatoes.
Today has been a pretty uneventful day other than my freak out this morning about the blue screen. I actually read the text for my history of rock and roll class last night and then today I listened to the lecture, took the quiz (13/15), posted to the discussion board, and responded to two other student's posts. All of this was due either Monday or Wednesday so I feel great having it done already today.
Tomorrow I will be working ahead a week by reading the text, listening to the lecture, and doing the discussion board posting so that I can use the next two weeks to work on my organizational behavior class. My next exam is coming up and I have yet to do any of the work (readings & assignments). Because this class does not have weekly assignments, unlike history of rock and roll, it's very easy to put off doing the work until right before the exam. I also need to look at my speech class to find out when the next unit has things due. I am going to do my best to NOT put off doing the speech until the night before because as we all know that did not work out very well last time at all ;)
Starting this week I will only meet at school for class on Thursdays from 11-1:30 which means I will have Tuesdays off. I am thinking I might work a full 8 hour day (8-4:30) on Mondays rather than just 7 (8-3). Or maybe I should start going in for a couple of hours on Tuesdays? I mean I did just spend quite a bit of money on a new laptop that I didn't REALLY need... Ugh I don't know. On one hand I think I should work more hours to make more money and help out my department but on the other hand in my perfect world I would use the time off from school and work to work on homework/studying. Realistically we know I don't use the extra free time to be working on school. Maybe if I had a fuller schedule I would be more on top of my school work because I would only have limited time to work on it?? Who knows...
Sorry for the completely random and boring post about my life...Like I said I had nothing I really wanted to write about :(
Questions...
When planning to make a semi-expensive/expensive purchase do you get nervous?
Thursday leaving work to go to Best Buy I was very nervous and I think it was because I was spending quite a bit of money on something that I didn't need. I didn't leave the store feeling much better because the employee that helped me made me feel rather dumb. I walked in there knowing what I wanted and told him that. He went on to ask me a bunch of questions like "Do you need anti-virus or Microsoft Office?" "You sure you know what you want, did you do your research?" UGH!! I was thinking to myself the whole time "Yes!!! I know what I want and if I needed something else I would ask for it!!"
I guess I should clarify that it was more the way that the guy a Best Buy was asking me these questions that irritated me more than the actual questions he was asking me. I do love a good helpful employee at a store, don't get me wrong!
Are you tech-savy or do you rely on tech-savy friends to help you out with those things? If you aren't tech-savy do you try to learn from your tech-savy friends?
Like I mentioned before I'm not horrible when it comes to computers but there are things I definitely ask for help on. Thank goodness for Alexis lately :) I'm super happy that I "met" you through your sister's blog!

Until next time peeps!

Who doesn't like a 4-day weekend??
I know I sure as heck freaking love them! Thank you marketing professor for having to go out-of-town :)
Last night I was thinking about how I could use today as a "sit around and do nothing but relax day", except for taking care of some speech evaluations that are due, but when I woke up this morning (9/9:30 FABULOUS!) I thought to myself "heck no Amy you're going to use this day to be productive". So, I ended up doing laundry, cleaning up the mess I had in the living room of all my school stuff (online classes mean you never have to pack your books up to take them with you lol), vacuuming the living room, Swiffering (dry and wet) in the kitchen and dinning room, and unloading/reloading and running/unloading/reloading the dishwasher. Major brownie points with my mom for all of that work I did today (+20 jk).
Those darn speech evals got pushed to the bottom of my priority list, even though they're due today. It is now after 11pm and I am still working on them. Because my internet connection=waiting for videos to load I am able to type this post as the last speech video I need to watch loads. Definitely should have done this earlier in the day when less people had posted their evals.
I hope you don't mind but I need to vent about these evals. Not about doing them but about people not following directions AT ALL! Each person is supposed to have 4, ONLY 4, evals for their speech. My professor cannot get much clearer..."Please make sure that you do not choose to critique any student who has already received four critiques--if you do, another student will receive fewer than four. It will always be safest for you to choose those students who have received the fewest critiques so far in the discussion." We're in college people, many are "older" students, it is not that hard to read and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS...or is it?? Now I know you might be wondering what the big deal is, or if it really is that big of a deal...and you're right, it's not. But I am just the type of person who follows the directions, and obviously doesn't like it when others don't follow the directions. But enough about this...
Tomorrow I am planning to work on homework but I may go snowmobiling for the last time this winter now. My dad mentioned tonight he would have gone but my brother had already gone out with a friend and when I mentioned this to my mom she said well maybe you and your dad will have to go tomorrow then. And when I mentioned that my dad asked what I was doing tomorrow and I told him homework my mom also said well maybe you could mention going out for a quick ride to get lunch some where. So I guess we'll see where tomorrow leads me but I forizzle will be doing homework while I am home. Then at 6:30pm my parents are meeting up with two other couples; one of the couples the woman works for my mom (and at the same place I work at) and the man was both mine and my brother's hunter safety instructor, and the other couple has gone to races with my parents (and the other couple). I am just tagging along for the food because I love the fish fry at the bar they're going to.
Questions...
Is there anything different about Greek yogurt compared to "regular" yogurt??
Do you enjoy a long weekend??
I would honestly be surprised if there was someone who didn't like a long weekend!
Time to watch (& listen) to this fourth speech so I can get this evaluation done...and then it's Jersey Shore time! :)
Have a good night peeps!

Our Love Is Just This Way
*Title is from the song Just This Way by Bomshel* (I couldn't think of a title, it has nothing to do with this post hehe)
Happy Tuesday peeps! Hope you are all have a terrific day so far!
My day started off pretty early (6:30am) because getting my pro/con speech done yesterday after work did not go as planned. Let's just say that a little 5 minute speech took me forever to prepare. Just another reason to not procrastinate! It didn't help that after being hard at work for roughly four hours I was just not in the mood to continue working so I got distracted by the TV. I haven't watched the Bachelor all season but I decided I wanted to watch the Women Tell All episode just so I didn't have to keep working on that speech. At 7:30 I went to my aunt and uncle's for dinner. My aunt made shrimp scampi (never had it home-made before) and it was AMAZING! Definitely will be trying that out on my own soon. I ended up hanging out with them after dinner until after 9 because I was watching TV with them, yet again another reason to not have to be working on my speech. When I finally did go home I decided I just wasn't in the mood, I'll finish it in the morning...even though it was due yesterday. I didn't think it would take that long to finish but I was wrong.
Like I said, I got up at 6:30am and I got right to work. I didn't post my speech until 10am, the very last person and only the second person to post on the 8th (the other person posted at 12:19am so I guess that doesn't really count). We'll see how my grade turns out by posting it a "day" late.
My speech was on the pros and cons of comprehensive sex education programs. I decided on this topic because sex education was (still is?) an issue in Wisconsin. I knew I would be able to find enough information about it to support both sides. Now if only I had started the research earlier. And as I write this I remembered I didn't include a bibliography in my outline. I am going to add that to it right now!
Ok now that I've got that take care of (yes I really went and did that before starting this new paragraph ;) ) Good thing I posted a blog and was writing about my speech or I wouldn't have figured it out for quite a while.
When I was finally done with my speech this morning I had to rush to get ready for school. It was my last day of marketing because our professor is going to be out-of-town on Thursday and next week Tuesday is our final. It is only an 8 week class so that's why it's almost done already. Other than it's a very fast paced class I didn't mind it. I have another 8 week class starting after spring break, hopefully that one goes just as smoothly as this one did. I took a fourth exam today so I'm crossing my fingers that I didn't bomb it like I did on my last one. Well I just checked, a 61/100 but our professor is adding 10 points to our grade so that means I got a 71/100. Not as bad as my last exam score but not great either :( Oh well, it's in the past now and all I can do is move forward and study hard for the final so I do well on it.
And you're probably sick of reading about my school work by now so I'll wrap this up. I'm going to start the process of evaluating other students' speeches so I don't do that last-minute as well ;) Maybe freshen up my nails as well, they're chipped and look pretty bad right now, toes included.
Here are some pictures for your view pleasure :)

Questions...
Do you enjoy coffee?
I don't unfortunately. I love the idea of coffee though!
Are you a procrastinator? Do you feel like you do your best work at the last-minute?
I am definitely a procrastinator (obvs) and I don't think I do my best work at the last-minute. I always pull through with a decent, if not good grade, but I'm sure I could do better if I wasn't rushed at the last-minute to get the assignment done.

Little Successes
Why hello there! I hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday :)
I've made progress towards three of my five goals today. Yay!
In other awesome news Alexis (check out her blog here) enlightened me how to change the font and font color in my blog. She even posted the step-by-step instructions (with awesomesauce screen shots) on her blog. Simple things in life make me happy/excited so I am super happy/excited that I know how to do this. Thank you again Alexis!
I must get back to my history of rock and roll class before I find more ways to avoid doing the work. Sorry my blog isn't very interesting right now...I just feel frazzled right now and even though I want to work on posting more consistently I need to make school my priority right now.
Questions...
What is one blog you highly recommend and think I should check out??
In a bit more than a month I will be able to renew my contract with AT&T and get a new phone. What are your thoughts on Blackberry, iPhone, and Droid phones??
I've made progress towards three of my five goals today. Yay!
- Homework - I am actually working on my History of Rock and Roll class stuff prior to the night it's due (tomorrow). Lately I have been putting it off until the last-minute and as a result not finishing the assigned reading or listening to the lecture which leads me to not doing the greatest on my quiz and BSing my way through the discussion board posts. But not today, I've done both! I'm currently working on my discussion board posts and then will be taking the quiz for the week. Part of the reason this is getting done tonight is I have a 5 minute pro/con speech due tomorrow that I have barely started to work on. Tomorrow after work will be devoted to working on that and then recording it. (Speech class online, awesome? I think so ;) )
- Blogging - I am posting for the second day in a row. Woot Woot! I apologize it isn't about anything super exciting. Our oven is broke currently so there will not be any baking going on in my house until our new stove/oven arrives in a couple of weeks. Guess you'll just have to suffer through my random thoughts for the day. ;) I'm still looking for shrimp recipes so if you have one please let me know!
- Mountain Dew - I have not had one today, unless you count the small amount that was mixed with the Cherry Dr. (Dr. Dew as my aunt and I call it). I am taking this as a success because usually on a Sunday I would be enjoying a few Mountain Dews (YUM!). Especially when there is a family dinner at my grandparents'.

Shrimp Recipe??
Wow it's been a while since I've posted, sorry :( I am going to work on this, promise!
And speaking of things to work on I have a few other things I need to work on.
Four things to work one, well five including the more consistent blogging, will be enough for me to work on for the rest of the month. Too many goals will make me go into overload and I'll fail miserably.
Now to the title of my blog. Do you have any recipes for shrimp? With Lent right around the corner seafood is starting to go on sale so it seems like the perfect time to try out a new seafood recipe. I really like shrimp so I would like to find a recipe for that. If you have any suggestions or any suggestions of where I could look for a shrimp recipe let me know! I enjoy pasta and rice so the shrimp could be paired with either one of those.
Sorry for the short post but I don't want to bore you with all the boring details of my life since my last post. I will definitely work on posting more consistently so this doesn't happen again.
Another question for you bloggers...how do you change the font color when posting a blog?? I see others doing and haven't been able to figure out how to do it myself. Please help!
Update: Thanks to Alexis I now know how to change the font color in my blog. Yay!
And speaking of things to work on I have a few other things I need to work on.
- Homework - Just like with my blog posting I've been putting homework off. I am getting it done though, just very rushed at the last-minute. As a result it is obviously not my best work.
- Cleaning - My room is a mess and needs to be cleaned, badly.
- Work outs - I've been making excuses to not work out, bad idea.
- Mountain Dew - I've been drinking it when I want and as often as I want. Empty calories are not helping me reach my weight loss goals. I'm going to start working on cutting back to 2 (12oz) sodas per week.

Sorry...
...That I've been MIA for over a week. Life has been busy with school, work, and just life in general.
I've got to admit something...I need to come clean with you all...I have a problem, a big one.
I am unhappy with my weight and how my body looks but I'm not putting in the effort to change my lifestyle to change what I am unhappy with.
Homework is always my number one excuse. I always have too much to do because I have a problem with procrastination, even after many vows to change. And there my friends, the procrastination, is the reason why homework becomes an excuse rather than a real reason. It is true that I have homework that needs to get done but when I don't use my time to do the homework; instead I'm watching TV or surfing the internet, I could really be working out. It makes me feel bad that I have to stress over getting homework done at the last-minute, and it also makes me feel bad that I am putting off my goals to become a healthier and happier person because I always say homework needs to get done first. So if it makes me feel bad why don't I change? I baffle myself because it seems like a no brainer to me.
I sometimes think if I had a personal trainer, or even just a friend to work out with, that I wouldn't put off my work outs. I need someone to push me to get up off my butt and do something. Too bad I can't teleport around the US to work out with all of you bloggers. Now that would be awesome ;)
Well in other news...
Nothing exciting happened Monday-Wednesday...well except for the season premiere of Survivor: Redemption Island. Boy oh boy was it ever a good one! I was almost jumping out of my seat while watching it and my brother and I were just talking away during it because we were so shocked. I don't want to discuss what happened incase you readers DVR'd it and haven't watched it yet. If you don't watch Survivor let me know...then I'll disclose the shocking news in my next blog. I can't wait for this week's episode now :)
Thursday was very, very foggy! I snapped a picture while driving to class around 10:30am. It was foggy like this all day! Cars without lights on were very difficult to see until they were right in front of you. Even cars with their lights on were hard to see until they were right in front of you. Definitely scary weather to drive in. It was just crazy if you ask me.
[caption id="attachment_46" align="aligncenter" width="225" caption="Would you guess there was a hill coming up??"]
[/caption]
I had made plans to watch the Gatorade Dual races with my mom and uncle at Phil's Round 2 (a bar) and have lunch so when class was dismissed at 1pm instead of 1:30pm I was super excited. It was still just as foggy as when I had driven into town, and stayed that way until after it got dark. My aunt ended up being at the bar as well to have lunch and watch the Dual races. We only watched one of the two races at the bar.
Friday a lot of schools around Wisconsin were closed due to not enough teachers coming into work and not enough substitutes being able to fill in. This was in response to Governor Scott Walker's Budget Repair bill. I'm sorry I'm not more informed to explain what is going on with my state government but from what I know the big issue is that state employees that are members of unions will lose their collective bargaining rights. I would say more but I do not want to misinform any one about what is going on in the state of Wisconsin.
Saturday I went to a Lia Sophia jewelery party with my mom and aunt. My mom and I picked out 3 items each, and then one item that we both really liked...maybe I'll post some pictures when it is delivered. After the party my mom, aunt, and I went to a bar to have lunch and watch the Nationwide race at Daytona.
Overall it was a pretty big weekend for NASCAR. Not only was it the season opener for all three series; Camping World Trucks, Nationwide, and Sprint Cup but it was also 10 years since the death of Dale Earnhardt. Michael Waltrip, who won the Daytona 500 on February 18, 2001, the day Dale died, won the Camping World Truck Series race on Friday night which was 10 years to the day that Dale died.
I am a Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Dale's son) fan so Saturday when he ran in the Nationwide series race I was cheering for him.
Again on Sunday for the Daytona 500 I cheered for my man Junior. I ended up taking a nap during the race though because I was super tired but I woke up for the really exciting part when the race was almost over. Trevor Bayne who had just turned 20 on Saturday won the Daytona 500 with one of the oldest race teams the Wood Brothers. Trevor became the youngest driver ever to win the Daytona 500 at 20 years and 1 day old. This was also Trevor's 2nd ever Sprint Cup race. The Daytona 500 is like the Super Bowl of NASCAR so it's a big deal to win it. Like I said, it was definitely a big weekend for NASCAR. Next weekend we're off to Phoenix.

After the race I had to buckle down and read for my organizational behavior class (online) because I have an exam to take this week. I'm one chapter away from being done with the reading. I have until Friday to take the exam.
Tonight I needed to buckle down and read for my marketing class (meets Tues & Thurs 11-1:30) because I have an exam tomorrow. So far I have gotten an 82/100 and an 80/100 on my exams so I'm not too concerned about the exam tomorrow as long as I get the readings done and take the time to review the notes. I didn't get as much reading done tonight as I would have liked because I was distracted by all of the Monday night shows that were on. I'll be setting my alarm for 7am tomorrow morning to work on reading some more and reviewing my notes. Wish me luck!
I also have my first exam in my history of rock and roll class which I am concerned about. I haven't been doing as well on the weekly quizzes lately because I haven't been getting the entire reading done or listening to the lecture that my professor records. Procrastination is to blame here. I am definitely going to listen to the lectures I haven't listened to yet and finish the readings to hopefully help my exam score. I have to take the exam by 11:59pm on Wednesday.
Since I have an exam tomorrow I'll probably be done with class early so I have no reason to not hit the gym after class. Hold me to it blogger friends!! You have my permission to kick my butt should I fail ;)

Baking Lesson Learned, 126 miles in a day, & Love at the Olive Garden!!
What is going on my blogger friends?? I've been a busy beaver these last couple of days so I'll just recap the highlights for you.
Thursday the most exciting part of my day was making a Chocolate Peanut Butter Bunt Cake. It tasted FANTASTIC but didn't look quite as good as it did when Holly made it (check out her cake here). I had asked my mom the night before when I was planning to make the cake how I got the cake out of the bunt pan. She said to take it out of the oven and turn it over on a plate or something right away so that's what I did. My cake turned out rather flat, almost brownie like instead of high. When my mom saw it she asked what I did. I assumed it was because I was caught up in the TV show I was watching and forgot to take the bunt pan off of the cake. But after talking with my grandma, who is an awesome baker, it turns out my cake my have fell flat because I turned it upside down too soon. According to my grandma I should have let the cake sit upright for about 10 minutes for it to set up and then flip the pan over on a plate or something, leave it sit for about 5 minutes or however long for the cake to fall from the pan. Like I said, the cake still tasted really really good so it wasn't a complete fail, just a presentation fail. Oh well, lesson learned for the next time I attempt to make it :)
Thursday when I was walking out of school to my car my aunt texted me asking if I wanted to go snowmobiling the next day if she could still get off of work. I told her I would and I would be inviting my dad who also didn't have to work. So Friday my dad, aunt, and I went on a 126 mile round trip ride. We left our house, which is only a 1 & 1/4 miles from my grandparents' where my aunt still lives, and rode to Tomahawk (about 45 minutes by car) for lunch at Freddy's Pub & Grill. Freddy's is a mexican place with amazing food. I had a shredded chicken chimi (yum yum yummy!). After eating we hit the trails again heading home, stopping once to use the bathroom (after eating & drinking you always have to go more on the way home lol) and again to put gas in. We had started our trip around 12:30pm and were home around 7pm. Overall it was a great day for riding, trails were awesome and the weather was great.
Saturday I had planned on working on homework all day so I could enjoy going out for lunch and shopping on Sunday without that voice in the back of my head reminding me about a bunch of homework that needed to get done. But plans changed, my mom was no longer needed at a church function that evening so my grandma, mom and I ended up going to town to do some grocery shopping at Sam's Club and eat lunch. We had lunch at Olive Garden, which I had only eaten at one time before and didn't like. I decided to stay away from spaghetti or lasagna as that was what I remembered having tried the first time many years ago and not liking. My grandma makes both so I think I'm biased as to what would taste good to me. I had the Grilled Shrimp Caprese and fell in love! Here's what their menu says: "Grilled marinated shrimp served over angel hair pasta with melted mozzarella, fresh basil and tomatoes in a garlic-butter sauce." I could have done without the tomatoes as I didn't eat them anyways but I know now for next time, and there will definitely be a next time :)
And now today has been homework day, nothing exciting.
How was your weekend? Do anything for Valentine's Day or are you like me and think tomorrow is just another day?
I'm going to leave you with a video from the 2010 CMA Awards of Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson performing one of my favorite songs from Jason's most recent album My Kinda Party. This was also the best performance of the night if you ask me. The song is "Don't You Wanna Stay", enjoy!

Brand Spankin' New!
Well here it is folks, my first post!
I was inspired to start my own blog after following Hollie since the beginning of her blog, and more recently Nikki. It was actually a recent post by Nikki that got me seriously thinking about starting my own blog. You can read the post that started it all here.
At this point I think I'll be using this blog as my place to get my thoughts and emotions out of my head and onto "paper" so to speak. Today I don't really have much I want to write about other than how overwhelmed I feel with this whole blog thing. I guess it's just because I don't have a good understanding of how to make my blog look how I want it to yet so I'm kind of frustrated. For instance, how do I add a Blog Roll?? Any of you pro bloggers out there want to help a girl out? :) Any and all help is welcomed!
Even though I am super excited about this blog thing and I just want to keep playing around with everything I better get going. I avoided homework this past weekend like it was the plague and who in their right mind does homework during the Superbowl when your team is playing? Right, not me so I have to play catch up tonight. The awesome thing about living in Wisconsin and having the Packers win the Superbowl, speech due date is extended to Tuesday! Woo hoo!!
I'm curious...
